One of our sisters, Lynda James has at different times, asked others to sign petitions that seek to right some wrong turns that our government has taken on issues that should be extremely important to us as Christians.

If you feel that signing these petitions or speaking out for what you believe in as a Christian is a waste of time, please read Lynda’s thoughts below :

Standing Up For Christian Principles

Author: Lynda James

Sometimes I feel as a Christian, we must speak out about something even if it does not seem it will do any good.   We seem to have sat silent while the atheist and immoral beings have spoken out and laws have been changed, corrupt, immoral judges have been placed in positions of power (by presidents), and look at the moral mess we are in.

It seems strange to me that Presidents have the power to appoint moral or immoral people to high places of power in our government, they have the power to take us to war, raise our taxes, use our tax money to support the UN (which I have no confidence in), and send foreign aid to countries that hate us.  He has the power to send our sons and daughters to die daily in God-forsaken countries that also hate us and yet you think that we should not stand up and speak out on our feelings as Christians because it will do no good… because" the President does not have the power to do anything about it?"

I don't think God wants us to sit silent and do nothing.  There are some things that are so important that we can't sit silent.  I love being an American, I think we still are the greatest nation on God's earth and yes, we do have the POWER OF PRAYER, but God also gave us a brain and I don't think He wants us to sit silent and say, " well, this is the way it's going to be and there is nothing we can do about it".

I want America back!  A place where our children can go to school and learn Godly principles, and learn the truth about our heritage.  Our country was founded on Godly principles and we were a Christian Nation.  We have sat silent far to long.  If people in high places of power have had the power to allow subjects like "How to be gay", "evolution"  and all the other ungodly things that are available to be taught to our children, then they have the power to allow Godly principles to be taught to our children also.  God did not give us "dogs" to raise, he gave us "children" to raise, and if we sit silent long enough because we think it will do no good to speak out, then what has happened, will continue to happen.

It may do no good, but I want my name on a list, any list, that says, "I am a Christian, I have a voice, and I expect the people that I voted for, to carry out my wishes especially, when it comes to Godly principles.  God did not create me to be a wimp, I am a warrior, I am not powerless, I have power and I'll die standing up for what I believe in.

I expect President Bush to do everything in his power to push for change in the ungodly laws that have been placed over us, to appoint Supreme Court Justices that are Christians and place Christians in places of influence and power.  I am not a Muslim, Buddhist, atheist, agnostic, Hindu or of any other religion, I AM AN AMERICAN CHRISTIAN, and very thankful that I am and I want my voice heard, even if it seems it will do no good.

I want "In God We Trust", the "Ten Commandments" and anything that points people to Christ, to be plastered anywhere and everywhere.  I don't want to be "politically correct", I want the world to have no doubt who I am and who I serve.  I won't be "Luke Warm" in my home, in my community, in my church, or in my country.  I may be wrong, but that is how I feel.  God can change anything, no matter how bad we think it is, He can change it. I will pray and continue to pray, but I believe he expects us to be willing to take a stand for what we know is right, even if we think "it will do no good".

Well, this was my sermon for the day.  I don't know why I am the way I am, but I am and I am not ashamed of who I am and who I belong to.  I want for my children and grandchildren and all those to come in the future to have the opportunities I have had and I guess until the day I die, I will sign meaningless petitions, be offended at injustice, expect the people I help put in office to do what is right in the eyes of God, and to go down fighting for right.  I just can't accept, "there is nothing we can do to change things".
